NPL

YOUTH - Round 6

The young Bears have been super this season and facing the Emerging Jets was always going to be a real test.

Again our lads did not disappoint and even when the going got tough the ability to remain focused, adapt and change was really pleasing to see. Well done all.

Thanks again to the super photographers who captured some of the action and tagged The Claw's facebook page - be sure to check them out.

U13 Bears 1:3 Jets
U14 Bears 3:1 Jets
U15 Bears 0:0 Jets
U16 Bears 2:4 Jets

SENIORS - Round 7

Back on the paddock after the bye and an enforced wet weather lay off the Bears welcomed the Jets to Rockwell Automation Park.

The U18s kicked the day off and went down heavily 1-5. The game was impacted by 2 serious injuries and we wish the young lads a quick recovery.

U20s were up next and also found the going tough against a slick outfit eventually going down 0-4.

1st grade while still chasing their 1st win could also point to only 1 loss, some excellent performances against heavyweight teams and gritty comebacks.

For 1st grade today was to be a case of oh so close, lessons learnt and confirmed this young team will continue to improve and entertain.

the 1st half while a bit of an arm wrestle saw the Bears shade it and could have been put to bed in the 45th minute when a wonderful cross ball was put over the bar at close range by Jamie Byrnes. 0-0 HT.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first with Weston almost playing within themselves until they forced a turnover in the 51st minute. James Thompson provided a lovely chip pass to Chris Hurley who controlled and fired a wonderful shot into the Jets goal from 20 yards out.

The joy didn't last long and within 2 minutes the Jets were level through some loose marking in the Weston box. This lifted the Jets and they enjoyed a good 10 minute period of possession.

The introduction of Jake Barner troubled the Jets and in the 89th minute a knock on from Buswell to Barner who found Buswell again saw the striker fire a powerful shot forcing a parry save from the Jets keeper. The rebound found Chris Hurley following in at the back post to slot home for his brace and a 2-1 lead.

The drama wasn't over and it was the Bears excellent young keeper, Kane Runge, who challenged a through Jets player in the 92nd minute to concede a penalty. Kane read the penalty and saved well but a Jets player beat the Weston defence to the rebound, fired home and stole the draw.

The Bears are away next Sunday to Hamilton Olympic.

WOMEN

Looking very smart in their Puma kit with commemorative badge to celebrate this historic season the Bears women's team finally had their season kick off against Mayfield.

In a tough first hit out the Bears went down 0-4 but will definitely be better for the game and without doubt there is much more to come from this team.

Congratulations on your debuts in Bears colours.
